How to pick the right guiding star for your business?

A business is basically all round activity. It includes basic idea, practical goal setting, careful planning, and tough execution in achieving those targets. It is best viewed as an amalgamation of all these activities carried out together, not necessarily at the same time. All these activities are interlinked, so it can be perceived as a chain of various episodes, which follow each other in particular order. Business management consultant is a backbone of any business. It may not be possible for one man to handle these departments, so the business consultant comes into the picture. This professional is equipped with right knowledge, right aptitude and is blessed with an analytical mind. There will be a whole lot of questions before you appoint a right person for your company. Here are some tips to follow while appointing a right consultant:
  1. Experience and qualification is the key: Qualified personnel is always an asset to any business. Passed outs from reputed universities or institutes have always won an upper hand in the selection over the others. Similarly higher qualification is more in demand. Having exhaustive experience in the qualified field can be another feather in the cap.
  2. Credentials and other achievements: always cross check the certificates and other testimonials with the corresponding institutes. These verifications are important. This helps in building trust.
  3. Right aptitude: being there and done that! Verify the qualification with the practical implementation. How well the candidate has been able to do it, is the key factor. People gain knowledge, but only those who can implement it, can be said to have acquired that knowledge. People with right aptitude can easily do it.
  4. Good orator and listener: is the candidate good speaker? Can he/ she gets people doing stuff he/ she wants to? Is he listening to people and giving them effective solutions? If yes, then pick that candidate up.
  5. Accountability, trust building and flexibility: the most essential characteristic of a business manager is to be accountable for the company, for the subordinates and superiors and most importantly for oneself. How well the person is creating rapport with other by winning their trust is also a matter of consideration. This can very well be observed during the interview. A person’s flexibility to adapt oneself to new environment and work place without hesitation speaks great volumes about his/ her flexibility.
These tips may not be all, but I have tried to scratch the tip of an iceberg.
